Conservation Buyer Program

The Land Trust's Conservation Buyer Program works to match conservation-worthy properties with conservation-minded buyers. We are not realtors and do not charge commissions. We simply maintain a list of available area properties with important agricultural, wildlife and open space values that the Land Trust believes merit significant conservation attention. We also maintain a list of conservation-minded buyers.

We work with sellers and real estate professionals to keep this list current, and share the information with interested parties that contact our office. If a buyer locates a suitable property, the Land Trust can assist them in completing a conservation easement to preserve the property's natural characteristics today and into the future. In addition to conserving the property's natural values, conservation easements offer a variety of income and estate tax benefits. These benefits can effectively reduce a property's purchase price by recapturing a portion of the cost through tax savings.
