Q: What is your favorite animal and why?
I'd have to choose a giraffe because they are so unique.
Q: How long have you lived out West?
I have never lived out West, but have been visiting yearly for the past several years. I have always lived in Virginia, but am fortunate to have the opportunity to work with the GRVLT via electronic communication.
Q: Describe a project you are particularly proud of completing?
I am proud of helping establish a systematic fundraising approach that sustains the important work of GRVLT. Part of this approach involves strategizing on new and different ways to cultivate and recognize GRVLT's patrons, which is more important than ever as we expand our conservation efforts.
Q: What attracted you to a career in conservation?
When so many of our natural lands are being developed at a frantic pace, it is important to me to balance this growth so that today's land resources remain for future generations to enjoy.
Q: What do you like best about your job?
The best part of my job is knowing that my efforts are helping to preserve beautiful landscapes that are at great risk of being irreversibly altered. I also like being involved with an organization thousands of miles away, as it is interesting to see the cultural differences between regions within our own country.
Q: What outdoor activities do you enjoy?
I enjoy exercising outside - mostly walking, but also like to hike when there's the opportunity.
Q: What is your favorite western?
My favorite western is Unforgiven.
Q: In what community organizations or activities do you participate?
Currently, I am awaiting membership into the Virginia Association of Fund Raising Executives.
Q: If you could live anywhere for one year, all expenses paid, where would you live?
I'd live at a resort on an island in the Caribbean.
