In the last 18 months, more than 3 dozen landowners have approached the GRVLT to sell conservation easements on more than 90,000 acres (nearly 1/5 of Sublette County’s private lands). The GRVLT is looking at ways (those we’ve used before and new, creative means) to help these landowners conserve what is very important to them and those of us that live in and visit Sublette County – their land.

One of the “tools” in our toolbox is to purchase easements from those who do not have the income to offset the tax benefits associated with donating a conservation easement. Another tool is cost-free, wildlife-friendly fencing. We have been able to raise the money to offer these tools to landowners, thanks not only to the support of the landowners themselves and members of the community, but also state, regional, and national organizations, companies, foundations, and individuals across Wyoming and the country who recognize the special values of Sublette County.
